From the invention of electrical power by T.Edison , it took 21 years to supply the electricity to Emam Reza holly shrine , and by now many stops have been taken to keep it alight In 1964,The Khorasan Regional Electricity company has been established, and took over the responsibility of supplying electrical energy , using few diesel generators.

In 1968, power stations brought to the use to supply the consumers throughout the province . In 1970 , the ministry of power , entrusted the authority of mashad power stations to tavanir (power generation and transmission co.) Thus the power delivered to the suthern part of the province as well as the north , using diesel power generators.

In 1987 , again , the management of installations , including Toos , Mashad , Shariatie ,Shirvan and Ghaen was restored to Regional Electricity co This was the beginning of a new era in electricity industries. Meanwhile , the company was run under three deputy to manage  the , generation , transmission and distribution.

In 1992 , the responsibilities were divided among the private sectore .To name a few Toos power Generation plant ,mashad power Generation management.co, Khorasan Gas power station co. all of which  were active in power generation . companies like power Transmission were administering the power transmission and maintenace. the companies being active in power distribution are;mashad power Distribution co. southern khorasan.
